5th Cartonplast Ibérica Sustainability Awards

Cartonplast honors packaging and glass manufacturers committed to a greener future

October 22nd, 2025Cartonplast Ibérica, a pioneer in reusable packaging management, has presented the 5th edition of its Sustainability Awards, recognizing glass and packaging companies in the food and beverage industry that are making a significant positive impact on the environment.

This year, in addition to the traditional categories for food and beverage packaging companies, Cartonplast introduced a new “New Projects” category to acknowledge companies that have recently integrated plastic pads into their operations.

The 2025 award winners are:

  • BA Glass, in the Glass category, for its strong commitment to reusable pads.
  • Grupo Félix Solís Avantis, in the Large Filler category.
  • Vichy Catalan Corporation, in the Water Filler category.
  • Grupo Ángel Camacho, in the Food Filler category.
  • Grupo Pernod Ricard, in the New Projects category.

The awards ceremony took place during a gala event held at the Empack trade fair, featuring a keynote presentation by José Luis Morato, Senior Principal at Miebach Consulting, titled “Economic Sustainability and Environmental Sustainability: TCO and LCA.”

“Sustainability in the supply chain is essential, as it can make a major difference in a company’s emissions balance. We must focus on efficiency, test new models, and not be afraid of plastic. Change isn’t easy but having a specialized and experienced partner like Cartonplast truly makes a positive difference,” said Morato.

Nearly 400 tons of CO₂ saved in five years!

The jury — composed of Belén Fernández, Director of PACKNET – Spanish Packaging Technology Platform; Teresa Martínez, Circular Economy Project Manager at Sintac; Cristina Duque, CIEC Coordinator – Madrid; and Sandra Nunes, Quality & Environment Controller at Cartonplast Ibérica — evaluated best practices in the use and management of pads and pallets, their return rates, and especially the total emissions savings achieved.

Over the five editions of the Cartonplast Sustainability Awards, the winning companies have collectively prevented the emission of almost 400 tons of CO₂. Specifically, the winners of this fifth edition have saved approximately 70 tons of CO₂ through their operations in 2024.

Once again, Cartonplast entrusted the award prize to Sustainable Forests, which will plant 250 trees on behalf of the winners. These trees will contribute to offsetting an additional 51.76 tons of CO₂. The reforestation will take place in the Obreguilla Gorge area (Navalacruz, Ávila), severely affected by last summer’s wildfires, with the aim of restoring and protecting these ecologically valuable ecosystems.

Since the launch of the Cartonplast Sustainability Awards, nearly 1,200 trees have been planted, helping to absorb up to 140 tons of CO₂.

Each winner also received a commemorative trophy, along with symbolic recognition from the supply chain and their organizations for their excellent environmental management and commitment to sustainability.

“Today we not only celebrated remarkable achievements but also renewed our shared commitment to sustainability. This is the path toward a better future — and together, we can make it happen,” concluded Cristina Pereira, Sales Manager of Cartonplast Ibérica.
