Three in a Row: Cartonplast Ibérica Reaffirmed as a Leader in Carbon Reduction

Cartonplast Ibérica, a leading provider in the management of reusable transport packaging, is announcing today that it has been awarded the prestigious “Calculo & Reduzco” Seal 2024 by the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO/MITERD). With this year’s certification, Cartonplast Ibérica now celebrates its third consecutive recognition (2022–2024)—a clear affirmation of the company’s continuous and measurable success in reducing its carbon footprint.
The seal, granted by the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC), recognizes companies that not only calculate and register their emissions but also demonstrate proven reductions. Over the period from 2019 to 2024, Cartonplast Ibérica has achieved CO₂ reductions totaling 1,103 tons, reflecting the company’s steadfast strategy across all emission scopes, including direct operations (Scope 1), electricity consumption (Scope 2), and value-chain activities (Scope 3).
Driving Circularity and Resource Efficiency in Packaging
Cartonplast Ibérica continues to advance its sustainability roadmap with a comprehensive set of initiatives focused on circularity and resource-conscious production. Current measures include:
- Enhanced Recycled Content: Increasing the percentage of recycled material in pallets and pads to support a closed-loop packaging model.
- Reduced Water Consumption through UV Treatment: Implementing UV-based water purification systems across all facilities to reduce water usage while safeguarding hygienic quality.
- Digital Transformation with the PaperLess Project: Significantly reducing paper consumption by transitioning to digital workflows, improving efficiency and lowering environmental impact.
- Strengthening Clean Energy and Operational Efficiency
Cartonplast Ibérica is also reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy and energy-efficient infrastructure through several ongoing investments:
- Solar Power Installations at the Parla and Poolplaca facilities, supporting clean energy generation.
- LED Lighting implemented throughout all sites to decrease energy consumption.
